Your Voice Is Important - Speak Out On The Issues

The mission of the League of Women Voters is to promote the informed and active participation of citizens in government. For democracy to work citizens must speak out and let those in government know what they think.

  • The people who represent you care what you think.
  • Your opinions are important.
  • Elected officials depend on you to keep them informed.
  • Speak for yourself or someone will speak for you.

The United States has a representative form of government, which means that the people we elect are in office to represent the wishes of their constituents. It's important to vote, and it's also important to find out where the officials you elect stand on the issues and to let them know where you stand. Elected officials report they receive disappointingly few communications from their constituents and they would like more.
