There are only 6 voting days left in the 2003-2004 legislative session of
the Pennsylvania General Assembly to get Growing Greener II, the $800
million bond proposal for open space and farmland conservation, abandoned mine land restoration, mine polluted stream restoration, clean up of properties contaminated with toxic chemicals, repairs at fish hatcheries and dams, maintenance and upgrades on state gamelands, and community
revitalization projects. Before recessing for the summer, House and Senate
leaders promised to deal with Growing Greener II this fall and created a
Green Ribbon Commission to make recommendations about what to fund and how to pay for it.

At the town meetings, local organizations, businesses and local government
officials will talk about important projects in their areas that need reliable funding and how Growing Greener II will benefit the local economy and environment. We need to make the case that we need Growing Greener II
now - every day we wait, we lose 300 acres of open space and farmland to
development. Our legislators need to hear that Growing Greener II must pass
before the session ends at the end of November. Come out to a Town Meeting and help us make the case!
