The LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS OF MONROE COUNTY consists currently of about 60 members, including 10 men, and growing. Members cover a wide cross-section of professions, from school teachers and professors to sales personnel and retirees. The League, tenaciously protective of its non partisanship, also has some members, vigorously partisan, working together under the same umbrella to encourage voters to become better informed through the League's policy of education and advocacy.

Some of the programs and activities we sponsor are:

• Government Directory, published annually, containing the names and contact information of all elected Monroe County officials as well as state and national legislators, school administrators, the Election Calendar, how to vote absentee, and much more;
• Voter's Guide, for which we compile all information on candidates and issues prior to the municipal, primary and general elections, the Pocono Record printing it as a pullout the Sunday edition before the election;
• Legislative Coffee, held each January to discuss issues and socialize with state legislators;
• Candidate forums before general elections;
• Voter registration drives during the spring and fall;
• Public information forums on subjects such as education, taxes, state government reform, public health, election laws, voting experiences;
• Workshops such as How to Run for Public Office in municipal primary years, open to all for a small registration fee;
• Attendance at the monthly meetings of the county election board.
