The League of Women Voters, a non-partisan and non-profit organization, works at the local, state and national levels, paralleling the levels of American government. We act on behalf of particular legislation, and we work to promote information about the candidates for political office.

The organization's name, like its mission, derives from the proud legacy of the women's suffrage movement. Today's members are women and men; any citizen aged 18 or older can join.

The League offers voter registration services, election monitoring services, and speakers for community events and organizations through the Speaker's Bureau.

The League of Women Voters of Philadelphia encourages informed and active participation in government working to increase understanding of major public policy issues and influences public policy through education and advocacy.

With its long standing reputation as a champion of democracy, The League of Women Voters of Philadelphia functions as a resource for groups seeking to ensure that their decision-making processes are fair and equitable.

The League of Women Voters of Philadelphia is often asked by local organizations to send League representatives to oversee elections, and to make sure leaders are chosen as democratically and transparently as possible.

The League has and continues to work as an independent third party observer with Tenant Support Services, Incorporated of the Philadelphia Housing Authority to monitor its Resident Council Elections in the housing communities of the city.
