Kelly's self description is as an activist, a full-time employee, a feminist, a friend, a caretaker, an educator and most important to her-- a mother. For the last 9 years Kelly has served on the Board of the League of Women Voters of Phila and for 4 years she was our 2nd Vice President. Two years ago, Kelly was elected President of the League of Women Voters of Philadelphia. Kelly comes from a long line of women in her family with a vast history activism. Professionally, Kelly has spent the last 11 years at the Institute for the Study of Civic Values. She has held various titles and assumed many job responsibilities. She has managed civic education programs, organized both city-wide and community events, founded several projects, raised over 1 million dollars in grants, designed and manages youth civic education & creative expression after-school programs and most recently, directs a program to assist over a thousand TANF moms gain practical job experience in youth related placements.
Heidi Gold is the Director of Communications for Ross Associates based in Center City Philadelphia. Ms. Gold has a proven record of success in marketing and media relations campaigns which are dependent upon engaging critical stakeholders, such as the media, legislators, and the public at-large. Ms. Gold’s experience in government relations provides her with a unique perspective on and insight into the inner workings of the local, state, and federal legislative process. A past president of the League of Women Voters of Philadelphia and past chair of the state Nominating Committee, Ms. Gold currently serves as statewide debate coordinator for the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania and is on the Board of Directors of the League of Women Voters of Philadelphia, serving as local debate coordinator. Ms. Gold is also a member of several local and national communications, public relations and civic organizations, including the Philadelphia Public Relations Association, the Pen and Pencil Club, and Philadelphia Forward. Ms. Gold previously served on the Board of Directors of the Association for Women In Communications and the Richie Ashburn Baseball Foundation. Ms. Gold received her Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from Temple University, Magna Cum Laude, and is a graduate of the Philadelphia public school system.
Kay McKenna Kay McKenna served as Vice President for Program and a Board member during the 1990s. She is currently 1st Vice President of the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania, and President of the League of Women Voters of Southeastern PA (an ILO). She served as President of the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) from 2000-2002 and a Board Member of The Philadelphia Committee on City Policy from 1997-2000. She received a BA degree from the College of New Rochelle in 1959 and a MSW degree from Fordham University in 1977.
Audrey Ann Ross has experience in both electoral and issue politics. She is the Community Outreach Coordinator at the Institute for the Study of Civic Values, where she has worked for over four years. At the Institute, she organizes, trains, and provides activists with the tools to make change in their neighborhoods. She also has experience organizing coalitions, coordinating conferences and events throughout Philadelphia and across the state of Pennsylvania, and developing material for advocacy campaigns. Prior to working at the Institute for the Study of Civic Values, Ms. Ross worked as the Eastern Pennsylvania Organizer for the Million Mom March united with the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. She educated diverse audiences on the impact of gun violence and taught prevention mechanisms such as conflict resolution. Ms. Ross has served on the Board of Directors for the League of Women Voters of Philadelphia for over four years, serving as Secretary from 2004-2007 and 2nd Vice President from 2005-2008. She currently serves as a Director and manages the League’s website. In the past, she has served as Editor of the League's newsletter, The Philadelphia Voter and served as the Voters Guide Editor from 2005-2008. In addition to her services for the League, she has served on the board of Best Buddies Pennsylvania. Ross graduated from Guilford College in 2002 with a BA in Political Science. She grew up in Northern Virginia just outside of Washington, D.C. and has lived in Philadelphia for 5 1/2 years.
