5/15/07 - Election Hotline with 6-ABC/WPVI
Location: 6-ABC/WPVI Studios on City Line Avenue
Contact Info: 215-829-9495
Description: The Election Day Hotline provides voters and non-voters alike with a one-stop information portal on Election Day, with a wealth of information available for callers. Hotline callers can receive information about polling places, offices up for election, and important phone numbers. The hotline also logs Election Day complaints and passes them on to local legal teams. The local teams research the validity of the complaint and take action if necessary. Types of complaints received can include voter intimidation, faulty machinery, closed polling places, and other impediments to free and open voting. This year the hotline will operate from 7am to 8pm, and will be staffed by volunteers.
If you would like to volunteer for this important opportunity to assist voters and to help make sure every vote counts, p lease take a look at the slots available and see what time works best for you! We especially need people for the early shift so if you are an early riser, coffee will be on hand for the 7 AM volunteers. Other slots are open for mid-morning and early afternoon.
Please consider helping with the hotline during any of these available shifts:
- 7am to 9am - 5 volunteers needed
- 9am to 11am - 4 volunteers needed
- 11am to 1pm - 3 volunteers needed
- 1pm to 3pm - 2 volunteers needed
- 3pm to 5pm - 2 volunteers needed
- 5pm to 8pm - 2 volunteers needed
Please also reach out to your members and non-member friends via your phone trees, email lists, and Voters . It's always great to have our own LWV volunteers, but if you know non-members who are interested, they will be welcomed with appreciation. And, best of all, perhaps they will be inspired to join the League at the end of their shift!!!
If you would like to volunteer, we have shifts available from 7am to 8pm. We especially need volunteers for the morning shift beginning at 7am. Please call 215-829-9495 or email Heidi Gold to volunteer.
