In Pennsylvania, to register to vote, you need to complete a Pennsylvania Voter Registration form. If you are already registered and need to change your registration because you have moved, your name has changed, or you would like to change parties, you must complete a new voter registration form and sent it to your County Board of Elections.
For frequently asked questions about voter registration, eligibility, absentee ballots, and more, click here for the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania's.
The Pennsylvania Primary Election will be held on May 18, 2010. In Pennsylvania, ballots are cast in a variety of ways and each county selects their own voting system.
In states that hold primary elections, voters choose their party's nominees to run in the general election by casting ballots.
Pennsylvania holds closed primary elections, meaning you must be a member of the party to vote for that party's candidate (for example, you could not vote in the Republican primary unless you are a registered member of the Republican Party). Other states hold open primaries, in which you are allowed to vote for a candidate outside of your own party.
Primary elections in Pennsylvania are held on the third Tuesday of May in all years except Presidential years, when it is held on the fourth Tuesday of April.
