Redistricting Reform — a 2008 priority issue. After the 2010 census, voting districts will be redrawn. Current districts are "gerrymandered" — drawn in strange shapes, often to preserve a majority for the incumbent. You can find maps of the current districts here. HB 2420, supported by the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania, would change the process to be transparent and open and to remove the politics. The change requires an amendment to the Pennsylvania constitution which must pass two sessions of the legislature and be put on the ballot for a vote. To be ready in time, a bill must be passed by the June 23 legislative recess this year to allow for the required legal advertising. For more detail on how the new process would work, click here. Legislators will be voting on this proposal very soon. You can tell them how you feel about this proposal. See "Facts for Citizens"for their contact information. Voting Machines in Allegheny County
