Project Title: Checking the Creek, Restoring Its Nature

Partners: Tunkhannock Twp., Wyoming Co. Conservation District,  Wyoming County Press Examiner, Keystone College Willary Water Resource Center

Area to be protected: Tunkhannock Creek watershed

Focus:   show how development and changing land uses in the Tunkhannock Creek watershed can cause nonpoint source pollution in local waters. Using photographs, data, and presentations, the project will educate how citizens and officials can work together on practices and policies that can be implemented to reduce pollution in the watershed.

Program on Groundwater and Water Quality Issues
Funded by LWVPA-CEF WREN Project - Ground Water and Wellhead Protection Grants- 1995 & 1996

The League of Women Voters, Association of Township Supervisors and Penn State Cooperative Extension sponsored a program on groundwater and water quality issues at the Annual Meeting of the County Association of Township Supervisors. The coalition also publishes a newsletter, Waterwise, which is mailed to all municipal and county officials and community organizations.
