Hosted by the League of Women Voters of Indiana County
Plans to redevelop the Homer City Power Plant property to a data center complex powered by natural gas have raised hopes and concerns about the potential impacts in Indiana County. Seeking a balanced understanding of different perspectives on the economic, environmental, and societal effects of a data center in our midst, League of Women Voters of Indiana County (LWVIC) is beginning a series of programs that examine these issues and encourage productive discussions.
In the first program of the series, Andrew Bockis, environmental and energy lawyer at Saul Ewing LLP, will provide an overview of how power is provided to our region, why Pennsylvania is a favored location for data centers, and an overview of the legal and regulatory framework for data centers and potential impact to energy costs.
