Public Program to Discuss Union County’s Future Development
Hosted by the League of Women Voters of the Lewisburg Area.
Public Library for Union County, 255 Reitz Blvd, Lewisburg.
Join residents, business owners, and elected officials for a community discussion on the updated Comprehensive Plan for Union County.
The presentation will be led by Shawn McLaughlin, AICP, who will outline the vision, priorities, and strategies included in the county’s updated Comprehensive Plan. The plan serves as a long-range framework guiding land use, infrastructure planning, economic development, and quality-of-life initiatives.
The program will address how demographic changes, housing trends, and economic development pressures are shaping the county’s future. Topics will include questions many residents are asking: how growth will be managed, whether Union County may host large-scale projects such as data centers or warehouse developments, and how concerns about traffic, farmland preservation, and housing availability can be addressed.
Attendees will also learn how the plan will be implemented and how county leaders, municipalities, planning boards, economic development organizations, and community stakeholders work together to guide future decisions.
The presentation will also highlight key elements of the plan, including land use, natural and agricultural resources, housing, transportation, economic development, cultural and historic resources, and community facilities and utilities.
