LWVPA: SAVE America Act voting laws would hit women, people of color, and rural voters hardest (Public News Service)
In an article published on February 23 by Public News Service, Deb Landau, League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania Program Director of Policy and Advocacy, noted that the new voting restrictions proposed under the SAVE Act would hit women and marginalized communities the hardest. More than 50% of Americans do not have a passport, and as many as 69 million married women do not have married names that match their birth certificates. Moreover, it is already illegal for noncitizens to register to vote or cast a ballot, and the rate of noncitizen voting is exceptionally small.
