LWVPA Seeks Executive Director

The League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania (“LWVPA,” “The League”) seeks a dynamic, experienced, and hands-on Executive Director to lead our organization during a time of steady growth and strategic transformation. Supported by the League’s Board of Directors, this position is responsible for carrying out the League’s mission – to empower voters and defend democracy across Pennsylvania.

Position Expectations and Requirements:
LWVPA’s Executive Director is responsible for all administrative, financial, and development functions of our small but mighty nonprofit. This hands-on role is supported by a staff of 1 full time employee, with the opportunity to hire an additional full time employee during the 2024 fiscal year. 

  • Finance and Development: Responsible for an annual operating budget of $680,000 with responsibility for the League’s diverse fundraising portfolio, including grants, memberships, individual giving, and more. Responsible for the development of the League’s annual budget and supporting the annual audit process.

  • Personnel: Supervise League staff members, including the management of the LWVPA Graduate Fellowship program. Hire and supervise consultants and contractors as needed.

  • Advocacy: Manage and cultivate key stakeholder relationships with state agencies, legislators, and advocacy coalition partners. Support LWVPA Policy Directors in driving the League’s legislative priorities. 

  • Communications: Serve as the League’s chief contact for media, including the production of advisories, press releases, email and direct mail, and social media content. 

  • Voter Services: Responsible for the development and management of the League’s annual voter services plan, including communications strategy, GOTV efforts, Local League voter engagement, statewide candidate forums, and the Vote411 voter tool.

  • Strategic planning: Responsible for the implementation of LWVPA’s 2022-2025 strategic plan, including operational, membership, and financial goals.

  • Membership: Oversee a grassroots network of 31 local Leagues across Pennsylvania with 2500+ members. Provide capacity and support for local League leaders, support membership growth, and plan programming and events.

  • Board support: Support all Board members and portfolios at the League, especially in encouraging cross-communication among committees.

  • Events: Plan and support all fundraising, membership, and advocacy events, including the LWVPA biennial membership convention and lobby days. 

  • Operations: Oversee and manage all aspects of League operations, including the maintenance of the LWVPA virtual workspace. Keep the League in line with financial and administrative best practices for nonprofit management.

Location:
LWVPA is headquartered in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. This position will be remote, with the expectation that the Executive Director will travel to Harrisburg as needed, up to approximately four times per month.

Compensation and Benefits:
The Executive Director position is a full-time executive position, exempt from the wage and hour provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Salary for this position will range from $70,000-$85,000 annually, which is negotiable and commensurate with experience. Our benefits package includes accrued paid time off (PTO), health insurance, dental and vision insurance, disability and life insurance, and a remote work stipend.
